At the beginning of the new year, the meeting of directors of the National Cultural Relics Administration played a prelude to the advancement of high-quality development of cultural relics with a new atmosphere and new actions, and achieved new results. Recently, various regions have held meetings on cultural relics work and meetings with directors of cultural relics bureaus to summarize the work for 2022, deploy tasks for 2023, and plan to promote the high-quality development and progress of cultural relics in the new era.

This year, the national cultural relics system will be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, closely focusing on the main line of studying, promoting and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, implementing the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, resolutely implementing the Party's decision-making and deployment, adhering to the cultural relics work policy of "protecting first, strengthening management, excavating value, utilizing and revitalizing cultural relics" in the new era, increasing the protection of cultural relics, improving the level of scientific governance, strengthening the research and interpretation of cultural relics, and promoting the utilization of cultural relics. Protecting cultural relics is beneficial for both the present and the future. Adhere to the priority of protection, coordinate rescue and prevention protection, intrinsic protection and peripheral protection, single point protection and cluster protection, and maintain the historical authenticity, integrity and cultural continuity of cultural relics resources.

Effectively strengthen the protection of cultural relics and systematically enhance the management of cultural relics resources. The National Cutural Heritage Administration has promoted the preliminary work of the fourth national cultural relics survey, prepared to launch the ninth batch of application and selection of national cultural relics protection units, guided the provincial cultural relics department to collect and publish the list of cultural relics protection units at the city and county levels, strengthened the protection of immovable cultural relics that have not been approved and announced as cultural relics protection units, and promoted the revision of rules and regulations such as the Measures for the Administration of Museum Collections. Shaanxi has gradually established a municipal level cultural relic collection. Gansu Province has implemented the "Longyuan Memory" collection project to strengthen the rescue and protection of precious and endangered materials, fragile materials, as well as unearthed cultural relics such as calligraphy, painting, metal, lacquer wood (bamboo slips), etc.

We will carry out in-depth cultural relic protection projects, emphasizing both rescue and prevention protection. The National Cutural Heritage Administration has promoted the research and demonstration projects for the protection of Yingxian wooden tower and other cultural relics, and promoted the pilot implementation of a number of preventive protection of cultural relics. Beijing has implemented a rescue and protection project for the Yuanmingyuan Acropolis site. Qinghai Province vigorously promotes the rescue, archaeological excavation, and cultural relic protection work of the Yangqu Hydropower Station on the Yellow River. Shaanxi is carrying out preventive protection of cultural relics such as the Xi'an City Wall, and promoting pilot projects for preventive protection of earthen ruins and grotto temples.
